Danger Lies Beneath the Straits

Sixty-year-old pipelines are currently carrying millions of gallons of oil beneath the Straits of Mackinac. These pipelines are in dire need of repair, and it’s time to say something about it. Let your voice be heard at the upcoming Oil and Water Don’t Mix rally!

Date: Sunday, July 14, 2013 Rain or Shine!

Time: 12 pm – 1:30 pm

Where: Bridge View Park just north of the Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace, MI

Why: To prevent a spill from the aging oil pipelines running beneath the Straits of Mackinac.

Bill McKibben

Activist Bill McKibben will be the keynote speaker at the rally.

What: Presentations by keynote speaker Bill McKibben, live music (Seth & May, Lake Effect, and more) as well as time to watch the Mackinac Sailboat race and have a picnic after the rally.

Who: Ordinary citizens as well as many organizations–350.org, National Wildlife Federation, Michigan Land Use Institute, Food & Water Watch, FLOW, and others will be participating.  Join in and take action!
